HOW YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Working predominantly within the poker industry, the Hearts of Queens community seeks to raise awareness of women's issues worldwide and provide valuable resources where they are most needed.
Toiletries brought to poker events are turned into our Fresh Start Boxes and donated to local refuges, shelters and foodbanks.
Fundraising for the Clean Water Campaign helps Water Aid provide clean water, toilets and washing facilities for menstruating women and girls so they can stay in school and work.
And our popular Christmas Appeal helps to pay for Refuge shelters over the Christmas period.
The project that started it all.
Did you know that women often arrive at shelters with nothing? We ask poker players to bring toiletries to events all over the world. Something small that fits into their rucksack: shampoo, a tube of toothpaste, a hair brush.
What do we do with them after that?
The project that went worldwide.
Did you know that menstruating women and girls around the world, in 2024, do not have access to clean water and adequate hygeine facilites? So they miss school. And work. And stay at home.
What is Water Aid aiming to do about that?
The project that is a raffle.
Did you know that it costs Refuge, the U.K.'s largest domestic abuse organisation, around £500 to run one of its shelters? Per day. And thousands of women need support on any given day.
How do raffle ticket sales help that cause?
The project that talks to women.
Did you know that the world is full of inspirational women who are changing attitudes and making a real difference? And that their stories are fascinating and inspiring and heartbreaking in equal measures?
What happened when we sat down to talk to them?

We have estimated the value of the toiletries and personal items our community has donated and turned into Fresh Start Boxes, before being distributed into local communities.

Our fundraising campaigns collect donations from player pledges and bespoke fundraising events. All donations sent to Water Aid to help communities implement clean water and hygiene facilities.

Thanks to the incredible support of poker operators and our corporate sponsors, fantastic prizes are raffled off each Christmas. All proceeds are donated to Refuge to help pay for shelters.
